The Road to Grad School Part 3

3 IMPORTANT THINGS:

1. Graduation is only 9 sleeps away!!! YAY! I’m so excited!!! After 6 years (and close to 6 million prayers, papers, tests, pity parties, presentations, miles of commuting, and lost hours of sleep), I am so proud to have finally finished my bachelor’s degree!!! For those who don’t know: my degree, Converged Communications, is a big fun bundle of writing, production, journalism, business, public relations, marketing, and digital media! 🙂 (FUN FACT: The ConComms hashtag was developed by myself and one other #ConComms grad, Alba Valdez, through Twitter correspondence about two years ago!) 2. I’ve just been hired by American Idol!!! Okay, okay, it’s only for a temporary/tentative production assistant job (Temporary meaning three days, tentative meaning IF Tyanna Jones makes it through to the next round of American Idol, and production assistant meaning this.) BUT STILL! This is an EXCELLENT opportunity for experience and networking (Who knows who I might meet/be introduced to!), and would definitely be a fabulous addition to my résumé! 😀 YAY!!!! **UPDATE**Tyanna was voted off so this job was a no-go!! 😦 Boo!!!!! Oh well!**

3. I’m gonna be a SEMINOLE!!! After so much graduate school drama, retaking the G.R.E. (Even though I passed it the first time, they were a little upset with me for using my cellphone during a break….in between sections…when there was NO POSSIBLE WAY I COULD HAVE CHEATED WHATSOEVER….not that I’m still bitter about having to repay and retake that stupid test….ha!), and checking the mailbox a thousand times, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief because I got my acceptance letter from FSU. 🙂 The details of when I’ll be starting classes are still up in the air, but I’m excited to see what happens next! **UPDATE** I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to be a teacher’s assistant which means FSU is going to WAIVE MY TUITION!!! WHOOO HOOOO!!! This summer, I’ll be commuting two days a week to Tallahassee for a class that will prepare me for teaching at a college level, but I will not officially be a capital city resident until August. :)**

A QUICK TRANSPARENCY

(If you’re not ready to hear some really personal things from me, here’s your warning about the following paragraphs…)
Even if none of these awesome things ever happened, I can honestly say that his past year has been the best year of my life thus far. God has really strengthened my perspective, even up until the past few days, and I am more confident than ever that He has great plans for me, that His grace is greater than all my despicable sins, and that life is soooo beautiful! The theme of David’s Psalm 40 is that God is our help and deliverer, and my best friend’s favorite part is verse 17:

“As for me, I am poor and needy,
    but the Lord takes thought for me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
    do not delay, O my God!”

It’s so crazy to know that God, the indescribable creator of the universe, thinks of me and you! Considering that I am the most rotten person I have ever known, my soul is so gracious that God has even allowed me to know Him! I truly can’t wait to continue learning, growing, and experiencing all that the world has to offer, but I hope that I never forget that this world will never satisfy me. I agree with John MacArthur when he says, “It’s so sad to see people hunger and thirst for the wrong things, hunger and thirst for happiness and meaning and fulfillment and inevitably try to fill themselves up with self-indulgent pleasures, possessions, power, and praise,” because I have had all of those things at one point or another and I have still found myself unsatisfied. The only true satisfaction I have found in this life is when I am living in peace with everyone and glorifying God.
